Serene Elegant Hide-a-Way
Every two years my husband and I fly to Calif. for a vacation trip. We visit friends in the L.A. area, and then venture out on side trips to places we haven’t visited yet. After looking at my beloved maps of Calif. (I lived in Lemoore, Calif. in the 60’s) I decided to check on T.A. to see if there were any nice places to stay in the Topanga Canyon, and am I glad I did! The beautiful photos of the Tuscali Mt. Inn and great reviews were “spot on”!

We drove up from Carlsbad on a Thursday, and arrived just in time for wine and appetizers. Teresa greeted us at the door, gave us a tour, then led us out to a wonderful courtyard to sit, enjoy our refreshments, and watch the sun set over the nearby mountains. The mountain air was cool, clean, and refreshing.

Our room was beautifully decorated and immaculate. We unpacked, changed clothes, then drove south about a mile to meet “old” friends from Lemoore, who now live in Thousand Oaks, at the Canyon Bistro restaurant.(great food-see my review)
After dinner they followed us to the Inn, and we visited in the gorgeous living room that guests use. They were amazed at how beautiful this B&B is, and it felt like we were entertaining them in our own house.

The Tuscali Inn is” Italian” in style, and the decor reflects that same theme. The living room has a huge fireplace, couch, several chairs, a black piano, and a table for eating for those who prefer to dine inside. There is another guest room downstairs, and the only “alert” comment I have about this Inn is that there is only one bathroom for the two ground level rooms. If you have friends staying in the other room it’s not a problem, but there could be otherwise.

Friday morning we had breakfast at 9 AM, and were served the best “Huevos Rancheros” I’ve ever had, along with fresh squeezed juice, Cappuccino, and toast. Then we walked up the hill to visit with the two pretty resident horses. We spent the afternoon in Calabassas (Cindy Crawford & hubby Randy Gerber walked right past me!), and had a great lunch at the Marmalade Cafe.

Friends from L.A. were joining us at the Tuscali for Friday evening, so we happily drove back down the Topanga Canyon Rd.( the Tuscali is about half way between PCH near Malibu and the 101 Ventura Hwy,) to wait for our friends. They arrived at 5:00, and we went out to the serene courtyard patio for wine and appetizers. It was a little foggy , so the sunset was not as spectacular as the previous night, but the atmosphere was such that we wanted to stay and visit all evening.. We had reservations at the” Inn at the Seventh Ray” , so we went to dinner, then came back to visit some more in the stunning living room.

The next morning we had quiche, juice, coffee and croissants, then we had a tour of the incredible upstairs suite, which consumes the entire second floor . This would be the perfect room to reserve for a special occasion !

Even though Topanga Canyon is rural and there isn’t much to do, I highly recommend leaving your stress and laptop home, and indulge yourself by staying in this incredibly elegant inn, nestled in a calm, soft environment, surrounded by the beauty of nature. Teresa and Bruce are very amiable hosts, and give you your privacy, while at the same time letting you know they are there to help you in any way.

Delightful, Classy & Convenient Getaway
Teresa & Bruce were warm and excellent hosts, and they made the experience fun and interesting.
The place is indeed as the slogan says.. “A little piece of Tuscany in Southern Cal”.
The location was perfect.. isolated but close to things. The house and the rooms were very classy,
elegant and comfortable. This is definitely recommended as something on the “to do list”.

We can’t wait to go back!
Jen and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay at Tuscali Mountain Inn Luxury Bed and Breakfast
in the hidden hills of Topanga, California. Our room was incredible, very private and clean.
The views were amazing and the hospitality that Bruce and Theresa displayed was second to none.
Jen loves the beach and I like the mountains…we were just minutes away from both locations.
Very relaxing, we enjoyed great wine, music and food. We can’t wait to go back!

The Best B&B Ever! Your place is wonderful , beautiful, and so very
interesting and so are you both. I felt so welcome, relaxed, and well fed.
I really appreciate all of your time and attention and getting to know you
was right up there with the high points of a very interesting and exciting
weekend in LA. And Bruce is a marvel! I cannot believe how cheerfully
he took me to LAX at that ungodly hour. I can’t wait to come back!
You will surely be my go to lodgings whenever I come to see the baby.
Thank you so VERY much for everything.
You both are the BEST!!!!
